Broomwood is delighted to celebrate former pupil Charlie Lloyd (Northcote Lodge/Broomwood, 2013–2019), who has been selected for the England U17 Development Camp – a fantastic achievement and a reflection of his continued progression within the sport.
The selection forms part of the latest pathway activity within the England Rugby age-grade development structure, with players invited to attend camps designed to support long-term performance development. Charlie’s rugby journey began during his time at Broomwood, where the sport was a significant focus of school life and played a key role in his development. Alongside school rugby, he also played for Muddy Knees and Battersea Ironsides, building strong foundations in the game from an early age.
In 2019, Charlie moved to Rutland and joined Oakham School, where he continued to develop his rugby through Oakham Rugby Club and the Leicester Tigers pathway. He is currently part of the Leicester Tigers U17 squad and recently contributed to Oakham School’s 1st XV winning the National Plate.
Charlie reflects warmly on his time at Broomwood/Northcote Lodge:
“Broomwood and Northcote helped me grow academically and personally. I really enjoyed my time there, made great memories and friendships and was given many opportunities. The support from the teachers helped build my confidence and passion for rugby, guiding me towards the England U17 training squad.”
