We are delighted to announce that Broomwood has been awarded the Gold Standard by Transport for London (TfL) in recognition of our commitment to sustainable travel. TfL recognises Broomwood as a leading school in the community, acknowledging the wide range of initiatives we ran last year to raise awareness about travel issues and encourage positive changes in travel choices among our pupils. From our younger years, ‘Golden Lock’ awards that reward those who cycle or scoot to school, to our older pupils taking cycling lessons to learn how to travel safely on their bicycles.

Over the past school year, we successfully reduced car use, increased the number of families taking part in “park and stride,” and now approximately 90% of journeys to school are made using sustainable transport.

We are also pleased to announce Mrs Selby as Broomwood’s new Sustainability Champion, who will lead our sustainability initiatives across all school sites. She will be working closely with our pupil Green Teams and Eco Monitors to continue running campaigns and activities that promote greener, healthier travel choices.

We look forward to building on this success and further embedding sustainable travel into everyday school life, inspiring our pupils and the wider community to make environmentally conscious choices.
