Broomwood, Clapham, is celebrating after being named Best Independent Preparatory School 2026 in London at the prestigious LUXlife Private Education Awards, marking the second consecutive year the school has received the accolade.

The award recognises excellence across the independent education sector and celebrates schools that are delivering outstanding academic outcomes, exceptional pastoral care and an inspiring educational experience for pupils and families.

Principal and Head of Broomwood Boys, Michael Hodge said:
‘We are absolutely delighted to receive this award for a second consecutive year. It is a wonderful recognition of the exceptional staff, pupils and families who make Broomwood such a special community.

‘At Broomwood, we are committed to providing an ambitious, nurturing and forward-thinking education where children are inspired to achieve their very best, both academically and personally. To see this recognised nationally, alongside our strongest-ever scholarship outcomes, is incredibly rewarding.

The recognition comes at an exciting time for Broomwood, following a record-breaking year for scholarships across both Year 6 and Year 8. This year, pupils secured 47 scholarships to some of the country’s most academically selective senior schools and prestigious boarding schools, with nearly half awarded for academic achievement.

Earlier this year, Broomwood was included in Talk Education’s highly regarded Top 250 Schools list, further reinforcing the school’s growing reputation as one of London’s leading preparatory schools.

Louisa McCafferty, Head of Broomwood Girls, added:
‘This award reflects the energy, creativity and care that can be felt throughout our school every single day. We are proud to offer an environment where girls and boys are encouraged to be confident, curious and courageous learners.

‘Combined with our recent scholarship success and inclusion in Talk Education’s Top 250 Schools, it is a very exciting moment for the whole Broomwood community.’

Located in the heart of Clapham, Broomwood is known for its distinctive educational approach, combining academic excellence with outstanding pastoral care, creativity and opportunity both inside and outside the classroom.

Last month, Broomwood also announced it would be expanding its Pre-School (3+) provision to include an additional class, further strengthening its early years offering.

Broomwood also operates a bus service across London, with routes serving areas including Pimlico, Wimbledon, Battersea and Tooting Bec, making the school accessible to families across the capital.

The LUXlife Private Education Awards celebrate schools and educational organisations across the UK and internationally that are making a significant impact within the sector through innovation, achievement and excellence.
